Check out Sam’s interview with Youth in Politics. Sam believes that the strengthening Maine’s economy and educating our youth are decidedly interconnected, which was one reason he was so excited to conduct this interview:

July 29th

Sam is inviting one and all to the Point Lookout Resort near Camden, Maine for his first ever fundraiser. Situated on 397 dramatic acres overlooking the Penobscot Bay just north of Camden, Point Lookout is the most head-turning addition to Maine’s Mid-coast Dining and Conference facilities. Built as a corporate retreat for MBNA Bank, Point Lookout’s 106 guest cabins, grounds and facilities are all in pristine condition. The cabins are considerably larger and more outfitted than a standard hotel room. Blending comfort with deep-woods calm, the cabins are available in one-, two- and three-bedroom configurations. Each has its own screened porch and Adirondack chairs, polished pine floors, walls and ceilings; air- conditioning (and gas stoves for chilly nights), deep leather chairs in the sitting area and kitchen facilities. The cabins are nicely spaced, nestled in the pines, for privacy.

Guests can spend days meandering the shady trails through the woods – a lake on one end, the spectacular Summit and observation deck with panoramic views of Penobscot Bay on another. Bird-watching, wildflowers and native animals make the marked paths a route of discovery for all ages. On the rugged shoreline, Point Lookout’s private, sandy beach is a great place for a stroll.

The gears of this campaign are rolling at a more rapid pace with every passing day. But it takes support from contributors like you to keep it going. While both of the major parties are well-funded and well organized, they lack the grassroots support that has thus far fueled this campaign at an unprecedented pace. Every day Sam meets new and exciting people who have offered to donate their time to our movement. He is humbled by their spirit, and yet heart-broken by the economic conditions that have driven countless of them to the brink.

From the start, this campaign has been about the people. For too long, both major parties have been bogged down and corrupted by special interest groups and lobbyists who care little of the plights of ordinary Mainers. For too long Maine has struggled to sustain itself, weighed down by the empty promises and perpetual inaction by Augusta. This must change. So far this campaign has grown solely upon the shoulders of hard-working Americans who are desperate for change, desperate for a helping hand in troubled times. With your help, Samme fully intends on giving them that hand they so dearly deserve.
